“on the banks of the mighty Platte”

Deer and antelope still play near the Casper KOA Campground and RV Park. More than 75 percent of the world's pronghorn antelope live within a 90-mile radius of Wyoming's second-largest city. In many places, the Plains look unchanged from the days when the Oregon, California, Mormon, Bridger, Bozeman and Pony Express trails converged here along the North Platte River. Trail ruts are still visible. Visit the National Historic Trails Interpretive Center or browse pioneer exhibits at the Fort Caspar Museum and Historic Site. The campground is located in the town of Bar Nunn, five miles north of downtown Casper. At an elevation of 5,284 feet, the campground overlooks the City of Casper and commands an excellent view of the city and Casper Mountain to the south. Public tennis and basketball courts and a baseball diamond are located across the street, and golfers can choose from two public courses, one of which was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. Or just relax in the big covered pool at the Casper KOA (Memorial Day to Labor Day). The whole family can make itself at home here with mini golf, a playground and a pet walk.Casper KOA is the only onsite, owner-operated, full service campground in the area. We offer big-rig friendly, pull-thru / full hook-up RV sites and water/electric only RV sites. We offer free restrooms with hot showers, a 24 hour coin op laundry and a convenience store and gift shop. Please join us on your next trip through Wyoming!

Just a quick single night’s stay for us on the outskirts of Casper (address is actually Bar Nunn, WY) and no complaints really, aside from the wallet dent, but lower your expectations of beautiful surroundings. Nestled among salvage yards and various industrial wasteland enterprises, this KOA was fine for a night’s sleep. If you’re stuck here longer, the onsite pool and extra-tiny miniature golf course might fill the time required to plot your escape.

We needed a place to stop for the night. We wanted a pool for the little to burn off some energy.
The showers were passable in cleanliness. The pool was OK, not great.
We were parked next to a family who had decided to have a reunion. Thankfully they were respectful when the sun went down, but when we arrived we feared we were in for a long and loud night. I think that next time, we will find a way not to need to spend the night in Caspar.

We stayed here the middle of September. We arrived after hours and the office had our information packet ready. The water and electric site we had functioned well. The site was all gravel and was mostly level. The site had a picnic table which was nice. There were 3 showers, but only 2 were functioning. The shower rooms included the restrooms - so if you needed the restrooms and the showers were full, you had to wait. The showers/restrooms were centrally located in the campground - which made it a bit of a walk for nearly everyone. They had another set of restrooms up in the front office (near the pool and laundry facilities). The noise from the freeway was loud. They do have an indoor pool, but it was closed after Labor Day and there was no notice online. They also had a miniature golf course that was fun. They do have a playground for kids that looked nice. There are prickly weeds that stick in your feet and your shoes. We wore flip flops and the weeds poked right through. The laundry room looked nice and included a sink - but we didn't use it as we were just passing through. The staff was very nice and helpful - even giving us directions to avoid some of the construction traffic in the area.

We arrived late. Host had packet ready for us. Information in packet made it easy to find our site and wi-if passwords. Gravel and mostly level sites. Not a place I would stay other than passing through. Bathroom and campground clean. On check-out, the camp manager was a bit grumpy and not helpful- not the typical KOA experience. There is a diner in a airplane hanger across the road that looked fun, we arrived too late to try it out.

Fit our need: a quick stop over as we made our way back across the country.

A young woman and man were working while we were there. Both were quite hospitable and kind.

Got a peek at some pronghorn that were just outside of the campground. There is a conveniently located restaurant next door, The Hangar, but we arrived too late to partake.

We stayed for a month. Excellent location, friendly staff, full service they have propane, tent sites, Rv and a cabin . Rv sites are full hookup and level. Close to stores and highway access . 4 bars with Verizon. Grounds are extremely clean. Great koa! They have inside pool, mini golf, playground and there’s a Rv car wash and dog wash directly across the street.

The staff here is very friendly and they are out and about every day working on the property, However, there is only so much you can do with a gravel parking lot. Your neighbors are close and they have been packed every night. Oh, and our site is almost right along the highway… oh, joy.

All the utilities worked great. Was odd that the sewer connection was all the way in the front.

Now, about the WiFi. Evidently they just reworked the entire system. Our site was right next to an antenna and we were seeing speeds over 100mb download. This is the fastest park WiFi we have encountered.

Easy to get to downtown Casper, only about 10 minutes drive.

This is NOT a destination but definitely better than a rest stop or Walmart

A stopover on the way back from Yellowstone to Denver. The staff (husband and wife) was super friendly and happy to see us. We were near a small cabin, the playground, and set of restrooms and showers. It's a little north of town so we drove back into Casper for dinner and to pick up some stuff at Wal-Mart. Since we just needed a place to stay for the night I would give serious consideration to the Wal-Mart next time; the parking lot had dozens of campers in it. But full hookups afforded us a good shower and movie in the rig.

The wind howled overnight, enough to cause the trailer to rock a little. But it's Wyoming, very few trees to slow the wind down.

The wi-fi at this campgroup rocks; I was over 100 Mbps DL and UL.

Nice KOA. Our back in site had shade. All gravel. Fast and reliable A&T service. Super nice hosts. Laundry room was clean. Quiet even though it’s close to an airport; didn’t seem to be a busy airport. Convenient to Casper. The Hangar restaurant nearby was good.
