Beech Fork State Park is a state park located in Cabell County and Wayne County, West Virginia. The park is located on the tailwater shores of Beech Fork Lake, a flood control impoundment of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on the Beech Fork of Twelvepole Creek. Since its development in the mid-1970s, Beech Fork State Park has proven to be a popular recreation spot for the residents of nearby Barboursville and Huntington, West Virginia, as well as those living in the surrounding region. The park is located about 10 miles (16 km) south of the Hal Greer Exit (Exit 11) of Interstate 64.Access to the park is also available from Exits 8, 15, and 20 of I-64. The Beech Fork Lake Dam and Marina are about a 20 mile (40 minute) drive from the park.

Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on June 13, 2020It's a tricky drive to get to this CG. We used it just for a one-night stopover. Hookup facilities were fine. On the drive in, you're thinking "is there really a CG here somewhere?", and then the valley opens up, and there it is!
I love it here. Very calm and relaxing. Some of the hiking trails at the dam/Mariana are really good. Lots of playgrounds, pic nic areas, and other recreation opportunities.
Beech Fork State Park was one of my go-to places for mountain bike trails when I lived in the Huntington area. The lake is surrounded by scenic hills for hiking or biking. The campground offers a variety of site options for tents and RV's. The park is a little bit off the beaten path; from I-64 in Huntington, it's a 25 minute drive on country roads.

10/31/19 - Yes, the road in is narrow and tricky. We are 41 MH + toad. We made it and it was well worth it. The campground (Old Orchard) is adequate with full hook ups, picnic tables, fire rings, wood for sale. The other campgrounds were closed this time of year, but look great for summer use. Beautiful hills and lake with fall colors. Lots of hiking to do and there are several geocaches in the area. Staff was very friendly and helpful. WiFi was spotty.

Beech Fork has over 200 campsites, many right on the lake. Four Coves & Lakeview camping areas offer large sites with ample space between sites most with beautiful trees for shade. There are plenty of activities for kids & the lake is great for fishing, boating, kyaking, etc. Great established campground!! One of favorites near home.

To start off the access could use a little improving, wider would be helpful. But have said that this parks seems to say nearly full and there some mighty big rigs in there. This parks has lots to do. It's a great park to walk or ride your bike, there is fishing, they rent kayaks and there are a couple of hikes in the park. There were kids everywhere riding and all kinds of battery operated things. They were having a great time. Defiantly a family orientated park. We drove out of the park and to the right for about 3 miles to get Verizon service.

We live close to Beech Fork, we’ve gone to many state campsites in WV and visiting those makes you appreciate how nice beech fork is. Nice facilities, level campsites with plenty of space and fairly spacious.

Stayed from 5/1/2021 - 5/8/2021 in Old Orchard spot 33. This is the only section of the park with full hookups, the others have electric only I believe. Park has over 250 spots but they are spread out in different areas. However, only one way in and out. Luckily I left on Saturday, the previous Sunday there was a line to use the dump station and leave. The sites are concrete pads and are a normal size with a gravel area and big fire pits, and some of the spots in other areas of the park looked very spacious. It rained a good amount and the drainage was not great so there was a lot of standing water the whole week. The lake is great for paddling. I can see the park and lake being overcrowded during the summer months. Also, a lot of bad dog owners letting them bark constantly at all hours.
As others have said, the roads around the park are narrow and winding but if you aren't an incompetent driver (don't act like you don't know who you are) you will be fine, just take it slow and don't get lost because there are much much worse roads in the area that you don't want to end up on. About 25 mins from anything significant, so try not to have the need to run out for anything if you can.
Don't think I'd go back as there aren't any attractions in the area and the fishing in the lake was dismal, it was too busy with people coming and going, and the drive there just isn't worth it.
Had great ATT and good TMobile service with the Peplink. Basically no Verizon signal in most of the park.

Nice campground. Not so fun driving the motorhome in.
I only used it as a stop over for the night but it is a lovely campground. I stayed in the tent campground but they have different areas if you need hook up and what not. It was very peaceful and had a great view of the ponds from almost any place. However no cell reception.
