“with more than 1,600 acres along 5.2 miles of shoreline”
Located on US 340 between Front Royal and Luray. Situated on the South Fork of the Shenandoah River with more than 1,600 acres along 5.2 miles of shoreline. A large riverside picnic area with shelters, trails, river access, a scenic overlook and car-top boat launch make this a popular destination for families, anglers and canoeists alike. 14 miles of trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding.
Beautiful place to spend a day floating in the clear, shallow river and exploring the trails. Very cute visitors center. We were there on a Friday in July and had the place mostly to ourselves. Because of its accessibility to DC and Skyline drive, I imagine it's a zoo on summer weekends.
