Giant nitro girl statue
I've known this gal when she was still painted up like a 70s gal! Featured on the cover of Weird USA book, she is still a pleasure to drive by! And apparently there's only one other like her in virginia sporting a bikini.
We stopped by out of curiosity and it was definitely worth it. The friendly garage owner, I presume, gave us a quick information about the statue that stands here. She was designed after Jackie O.! That was our fun fact of the day.
Nitro girl has stood in this location since 1965. She was a typical Uniroyal Gal but in 2007, the owner had two female artists transform her into a super hero. The tire store even sold bobble heads of Nitro Girls. She stands 18'. There are quite a few larger than life giants in the state of NJ, fun roadtrip to visit them all.
