“A tribute and honor to fallen heroes”
A tribute and honor to all wildland firefighters and the people who support them - past, present, and future. The monument is located on a one-acre natural native landscape accessed by a ribbon-shaped walkway. Follow the sound of a waterfall as you enter a blanket of native flowers, grasses, trees, and shrubs. Experience a mosaic of sunlight and shadow. Clear direction was given that the project was to be a monument, not a "memorial." The primary reason was that there were many fire memorials, yet there wasn't an area that was formally dedicated to living wildland firefighters, including support personnel.
