“A modern interpretation of the classic diner”
A modern interpretation of the classic diner, Sportello (Italian for “counter service”) offers a menu of chef Barbara Lynch’s trattoria-inspired Italian dishes for lunch and dinner. Sportello’s casual, lively, Italian spirit is captured in the sleek, minimalist design of the cuisine — fresh pastas, creamy polenta, and simple soups — and in the supremely approachable, artisanal wine list created by wine director Cat Silirie. Located in Boston's Fort Point neighborhood, Sportello (Italian for counter service) offers a menu of Chef Barbara Lynch's trattoria-inspired Italian dishes for both lunch and dinner. Grab a seat at the counter and enjoy a bowl of handmade pasta and a glass of wine from wine director Cat Silirie's approachable, artisanal wine list. Sportello also offers freshly baked breads, pastries, sandwiches and coffee from the bakery counter, along with a selection of prepared dishes and pantry items.

I'd call this a Modern Italian place. One my favorite restaurants in Boston. Tagliatelle is the standard in the area, but their menu is broad, always changing and the experience is different than most places. They have a well-thought out wine selection and a great staff. The bar downstairs, called Drink, is very cool and has a lot of different artesian cocktails to pick from (if that's your thing). Read more
