“Boston's best kept secret”
Authentic Spanish tapas in the South End by Ken Oringer & Jamie Bissonnette. Killer wine list and a cocktail program that is Boston's best kept secret. Toro is a Barcelona-style tapas restaurant located in Boston’s South End. We serve traditional and modern Spanish-style small plates made with locally sourced and sustainable ingredients. Our beverage program features classic-inspired cocktails and an eclectic, carefully curated wine list. We serve lunch Monday through Friday, a Sunday brunch, and dinner seven nights a week. Due to our small size we are unable to accommodate reservations at dinner; we seat all parties on a first-come, first serve basis. Toro is now accepting lunch and brunch reservations for parties of six or more. Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate parties larger than 10 people on Fridays and Saturdays.
They have excellent tapas-- most recommended place in Boston. Plus, it's just a fun experience and vibe. Probably the biggest drawback is they don't have reservations, so getting in is a huge pain given the popularity.
I wouldn't call it "boston's best kept secret' -- although I think 'boston's best tapas (not secret)' would be appropriate.
No reservations are accepted at this small, rowdy tapas bar, but it's worth the sometimes hours-long wait for chefs Jamie Bissonnette and Ken Oringer's aioli-slathered elote corn and the crisp uni bocadillo, a petite sandwich with big flavor thanks to sea urchin roe, pickled mustard seeds and a smear of miso butter.
