“final resting place of”

Founded in 1660, the Old Granary Burial Ground in Massachusetts is the city of Boston's third-oldest cemetery. Located on Tremont Street, it is the final resting place for many notable Revolutionary War-era patriots, including three signers of the Declaration of Independence – Samuel Adams, John Hancock, and Robert Treat Paine – Paul Revere, and the five victims of the Boston Massacre. The cemetery has 2,345 grave-markers, but historians estimate as many as 5,000 people are buried in it. The cemetery is adjacent to Park Street Church and immediately across from Suffolk University Law School.

The cemetery's Egyptian revival gate and fence were designed by architect Isaiah Rogers (1800–1869), who designed an identical gate for Newport's Touro Cemetery.

Mother Goose (yes...like the stories) is buried here! Sometimes there are guides to provide more information.

Very enthralling for history buffs like myself. The Granary Burying Brown packs a lot of punch, holding many household names from the Revolutionary War era. Most of the gravestones also have cool markings drawn on them, and have brief obituaries on them written in old poetic english.

Many of the grand poobahs of the cemetery have unique memorials. The Boston Massacre victims have a mass grave under a tall broad grave stone, Paul Revere has a small simple monument, John Hancock's grave is shockingly phallic. There was a huge Franklin monument in the center of the graveyard, we assumed marked the remains of Benjamin Franklin. However Ben Franklin is not actually buried at this site, and the grave contains members of his family.

If you stop at one cemetery on the Freedom Trail, make it this one. It's the final resting place of some of the coolest patriots... and my personal favorite, Phillis Wheatley, the first African-American poet and first African American woman to publish a book. I love that she's in the same cemetery as Sam Adams and Paul Revere.
