“Rustic Joint for Fish Grub”
As one of the first "highways" used by early American settlers to reach what was once a vast, uncharted wilderness, the White River has helped shape Ozarks history. As more and more sportsmen were drawn to the excellent fishing on these waters, local guides like Charlie Barnes and Jim Owen made a good living taking sportsmen on floats down the river. Local lore claims this area as the birthplace of the "johnboat". In 1913, the free-flowing waters of the White were dammed for the first time. The hydroelectric Powersite Dam was completed near Forsyth, creating Lake Taneycomo. Bass Pro Shops is proud to present the most beautiful view of these waters from the floor to ceiling panoramic windows of the White River Fish House. This scenic restaurant is actually a floating barge serving up local favorites to fisherman and shoppers alike. Guests can park their boat on our pier to stop in for a respite and enjoy a cold beverage. The White River Fish House was recently named the Best Restaurant in Branson by 417 Magazine and we think you will agree with this one of a kind atmosphere and outstanding service.
