“Authentic Austro-Hungarian flavor”
This classic beer hall brings authentic Austro-Hungarian flavor to the skinny jean heart of America. The proprietors are actually Slovakian, but who’s counting? Forged from the shells of two adjacent warehouses, space is plentiful and a retractable roof allows for open air ambiance. The heavy wood bar is as old as the drinkers are youthful. Juicy meats are served along with delightfully greasy fries, but the real attraction is the dozen or so beers on tap, and the many more in bottles. It can get ridiculously packed here on weekend nights, and even after work drinkers can find themselves waiting for a table. If you’re lucky enough to get a nice spot, hail one of the beermaids (the female staff are sometimes styled in the corseted manner of the St. Pauli Girl mascot), order a veal schnitzel, and camp out for the evening.
