“Attractions in Buffalo, NY”

Imagine 1920's Western NY, “Buffalo Proper” Already a few years into prohibition, our booming steel town was considered one of the wealthiest and wettest cities in the nation. Buffalonians raised their glasses in defiance of the 18th amendment with great drinks and exceptional friends. Buffalo Proper today represents the highest ideal of what our region has to offer to the world of food and beverage. We command theory, technique, and inspiration to bridge the gap between our creativity and your pleasure. To us, food and drink are not just about calories and alcohol; they're about transcending every day life into the realm of limitless possibilities. The place where life is just... Sweeter. Jon Karel imbues our bar with passion, mastery, and never ending thirst for revelry. Chef Forster commands our kitchen with patience, diligence, and endless curiosity. Josh Miles elevates our service team with warmth, knowledge, and attentiveness. Cheers!

The first thing you’ll notice when you walk into Buffalo Proper is how large and gorgeous the bar is. It’s really awesome. The wall is covered in countless bottles of booze, wonderfully backlit and perfectly matched with a long copper bar top. Edison bulbs, a large deer head and a mirror made by Sean Wrafter complete the look. If they served flavored vodka martini’s and PBR, I would still hang out there because it looks that nice. Luckily, they don’t.

The cocktail menu created by Bar Manager Jon Karel is filled with a twist on the classics and his talents to make a drink on the spot are outstanding. On our visit Sunday night he made excellent versions of a Mezcal Mule and Mai Tai (complete with awesome tiki glass) for Alli and myself. The rest of the bartending staff are also very talented folks who’ve honed their skills locally and at The Revelry in Rochester, where Jon spent the last year.
