“an abandoned art deco masterpiece”

This place is on private property. Listing for informational purposes only. Please do not visit without express permission from the land owner.

The Buffalo Central Terminal opened to the public on June 22, 1929. Built by the New York Central Railroad and designed by architects Alfred T. Fellheimer & Steward Wagner, the art deco style station was built to accommodate up to 3200 passengers per hour, or 200 trains per day. The complex consists of the main concourse, a 17 story office tower, a four story baggage building and two story mail building along Curtiss Street, and the now detached train concourse. The complex sits on a 17 acre site 2.5 miles east of downtown Buffalo.

Many believe the Central Terminal to be an active area for paranormal activity.

Really beautiful building, but you have to make sure that you plan your visit around a special event, as it's not open terribly often. Call ahead.

went for a tour a couple of weeks ago (the non-profit that owns it now is renovating it and offers several types listed on their website). a hauntingly beautiful art deco building with some interesting stories. it has a very abandoned yet stately feeling. the place is huge there are still major areas of disrepair and rubble. they were able to buy back the original clock. pictures of it in its heyday left me wishing to see it in full grandeur, but happy to also see it in its rough and current state of revival. definitely one of the highlights of my trip.

One of the most beautiful buildings in Buffalo. The city usually gets a bad rap for being a rust belt city, but there's many hidden gems such as this. While it's not open to the public all the time, there are many events held here throughout the year where you can awe at the beauty of this old train station.
