Abandoned Howard Stern Rest Stop

It should come as no shock - heh - that if anyone had a rest stop named after them it would be the shock jock himself, Howard Stern. In 1995, this very thing occurred, when New Jersey's then gubernatorial candidate Christine Todd Whitman offered the "honor" in return for Stern's support in her public running. After Whitman won, she kept to her word and named a rest stop along New Jersey's southbound I-295 after the famed radio host. In other not-shocking news, lewd activities were allegedly a common occurrence, leading to the eventual shutdown of the rest stop. Official word claims it was an economic downturn in 2003 that ultimately led to the closure. You decide.
