“Best Place to Have a Beer in Burlington”
The Vermont Pub & Brewery, the state's oldest craft brewery, opened its doors on November 11, 1988 and has been one of Burlington's most popular establishments ever since. Greg Noonan, one of the Craft Brewing pioneers, opened Vermont's first brewpub on November 11, 1988 after lobbying the state legislature for three years to allow pub brewing in Vermont for the first time since Prohibition.Over the years VPB has been honored with numerous awards. Recently, The Great International Beer Festival awarded our flagship Burly Irish Ale a Gold Medal, whileForbidden Fruit won a Silver and Handsome Micks' Smoked Stout was awarded the Bronze. We submitted three beers to the 2012 World Beer Championships and won medals for all three! We have also won medals at the Great American Beer Festival theReal Ale Festival and the Yankee Brewers Conference.Our beers have been lauded by British beer critic Michael Jackson. In January of 1997, VPB was honored as one of the nation's 25 Best Craft Breweries by the book America's Best Brews. Yankee Magazine has awarded us their Editor's Pick Award three times.Here at home, we have been voted "Best Place to Have a Beer" by every Burlington Free Press Readers' Choice Awards, "Best Place for Couples" and the perennial winner of the Seven Daysies Awards by the Seven Days readers' poll for the "Best Place to Drink a Vermont Beer".
