A one-hour-up/one-hour-back hiking trip is the best way to see this mountain.
We entered Camden Hills State Park to see Mt. Battie. We opted to take the toll road, which I believe was $6 for adults and $2 per senior. You can also hike up to Mt. Battie. We encountered bikers, hikers, joggers, and campers on our way to the top. It is a worthwhile stop to see the awesome views from Mt. Battie. There is a brick tower that you can walk up at the top of Mt. Battie, but be careful cause the steps are narrow, (especially if you have big feet). There is ample parking, and restrooms were to the right. There are signs telling you what you are seeing below in the Penobscot Bay (Camden Harbor, city of Camden, Maine, Curtis Island, Atlantic Ocean, etc.) This was a great find along our trek from Ohio to Nova Scotia. We'd definitely return when in the area again.
Worth stopping! I drove to the top on a perfect morning and had my morning coffee on top of the world. Lovely.
