“Beam me up, fella”
Take a detour through Canadian Texas and check out this rad folk art made by a local artist Gene Cockrell. There are a myriad of things to see: Jesus, Cheerleaders, Aliens etc. This is a private residence, so please be courteous and take pictures from the road. In order to get there: Gene lives east of town. Take US 60/83 to the south side of town, and turn east onto Cheyenne Ave. (which eventually turns into Marshall Drive). Drive east, through the four-way stop at Main St., and continue east for another 1.5 miles. Look for the house on he left with the statues on the lawn.
There's no rhyme or reason to the dozen or so concrete statues that adorn this local man's yard-- they range from a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader to dinosaurs to aliens to Jesus. They're incredibly impressive, especially since Gene made them all himself, but remember that this is private property, so admire from the road.
