A few years ago, the Mauldins had the thought to bring real, down-home, Southern cooked BBQ to Pennsylvania. Approximately five years ago, they packed up and moved from their small Southern town to bring Redd’s Smokehouse BBQ to Carlisle. They started Redd’s out of a concession trailer in 2010- focusing solely on the quality of their product- but after establishing a larger fan following decided to make the move onto North Hanover Street in downtown Carlisle in April 2012. They have delicious BBQ at a comparatively inexpensive price and are committed to providing Carlisle fans with quality, homemade meals. At Redd’s they understand the smoking process and smoke their meats with real Applewood that they receive from local orchards in Central PA.
