Cedar Park Center is an indoor arena, located in Cedar Park, in the U.S. state of Texas, near Austin. No corporate sponsor owns the naming rights to the arena. The arena is home to the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League and the Austin Toros of the NBA Development League. Construction began in 2008, at a cost of $55 million, and the new arena was officially opened in September 2009. The building's first event took place on September 25, 2009, featuring country music artist George Strait. The 6,800-seat sports arena is located at the corner of 183A and New Hope Road in Cedar Park, Texas. The primary tenants are the Texas Stars ice hockey team of the American Hockey League and the Austin Toros of the NBA Development League. The city of Cedar Park owns the event center, and has partnered with Dallas-based Hicks Sports Marketing to develop an adjacent tract into a 182,000 SF retail and office complex. Their affiliate, Center Operating Group, will manage, book and staff the event center. Hicks Sports Marketing assumes the operating risk of the arena.
