“one of the largest exotic feline rescue centers in the United States”
With over 225 exotic felines calling the EFRC home, we are one of the largest rescue centers in the United States for abused, unwanted and neglected exotic felines. The EFRC was founded in 1991 by Joe Taft in Center Point, Indiana, on a rural stretch of 15 acres. Our mission is simple: we provide permanent homes for exotic felines that have been abused, abandoned or for some reason have nowhere to live out their lives, while educating the public about these beautiful cats. Today, the EFRC is a national leader in the rescue and care of exotic felines from all around the country. We are a USDA licensed and inspected 501(c)(3) organization. he EFRC, starting with 15 acres of land in 1991 before expanding to 26 acres in 1998, now encompasses a total of 108 acres of property. The purchase of the additional 82 acres, adjacent to the original property, was made possible in 2002 thanks to a grant from the Clark Charitable Trust of Lincoln, Massachusetts, in conjunction with a gift from a private donor. With the original 26 acres of the EFRC now 100% developed and at full capacity, a few needed habitats have been erected, starting in 2006, on the previously undeveloped, new part of the EFRC. With the trade in exotic felines being so pervasive in today’s society there is no sign that requests for the EFRC to accept unwanted exotic cats will subside. There is a tremendous need for the EFRC to bolster its resources to continue to meet the sophisticated needs these magnificent cats require.
this place is amazing. It is well worth the stop. We are planning on making another trip here once the foliage starts to die. Seen many of the felines, and you get so close it is amazing. My son loved hearing the roar and chuf.
Highly recommended. We (kids 5y and 6y) went in early spring and were able to see every animal. It's worth the drive and a good cause!
This place is so awesome. You can get within 3 feet of these beautiful cats. They are all obviously well treated. You can tell that the staff loves them. A lovely guided tour of the place for $10 each. Got several fantastic shots and some video of the tigers chuffing and a lion roaring.
If you are anywhere in the area - this is an absolute must see if you like big cats at all.
Fantastic rescue, you can tell the cats are the priority and treated very well. They run on donations, so definitely pay them a visit!
Love this place getting ready to visit again
Great experience. Was worth the trip out to see it. Staff is friendly, helpful and informative.
