“Nestled in Beautiful Albermale County”
First Colony Winery is nestled in beautiful Albemale County, the heart of Virginia Wine Country. Recently acquired by new owners, First Colony is beginning to see some exciting changes take place. In early spring of 2013, 4.5 acres of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon were planted. They have successfully taken root and are growing very well. They are affectionately called “the babies.” The renovation of the processing building, which included a new glycol system and the addition of a covered crush pad, has also been completed. In addition, clearing of several acres has been finished to make way for future vineyards and gardens for the public’s enjoyment. In October, master thatcher Colin McGhee began transforming the roof of our processing building. The work should be completed in the next several weeks. Major landscaping renovations are currently taking place, and interior tasting room renovations were completed in February. Construction of a two room luxury bridal suite is beginning shortly. If that’s not enough, we are now beginning to bottle wines under our new label. Come out, visit us as we grow, and enjoy a glass of our new wine! We look forward to meeting you.
Nice place. Close to Monticello. We really enjoyed the wine tasting.
