“measuring up to 70 ft in length”
Measuring 70 feet in length and 17 feet at its tallest point, this gentle giant is a favorite place to snap a photo by visitors from St. Louis and beyond. The Awakening was first cast by sculptor Seward Johnson in 1980 for a sculpture exhibition in Washington D.C. Chesterfield Arts was commissioned to bring the sculpture to the Chesterfield community and The Awakening was unveiled on October 10, 2009, adding it to Chesterfield Arts' permanent outdoor art collection and the beautiful landscape of Chesterfield, Missouri. Find the Awakening just off the intersection of Chesterfield Parkway and Park Circle Drive adjacent to Chesterfield Central Park.
Super fun photo opportunity!
Something for the kids to climb on. It is not where the map shows (on back side of Chesterfield mall, off Veterans Place Dr in front of Central Park).
Good photo op. Way bigger than I expected. It's a quick stop to stretch your legs.
Super fun photos! Hard to see from the ground but still worth checking it out. It is not at the location listed. Here is the actual address: 16365 Lydia Hill Dr.
It was cool-hard to see from the ground. We brought a drone!
Fun photo opportunity and the details are incredible
Fun photo op! Impressive in size and beautifully detailed up close. We parked right by it and walked right up to it.
Very cool and just off I-64 in Chesterfield Park, not in the neighborhood where the app has it. Definitely worth the visit!
It's definitely a cool photo opportunity, and in a very low key area!
Had trouble finding him at first but you can see him from pretty far away (though the area is still being developed). He lays in front of a county building with plenty of parking available. Much more impressive in person, definitely worth the stop!
