“Get away from it all!”

Curt Gowdy is located just 24 miles west of Cheyenne, Wyoming and 24 miles east of Laramie, Wyoming. Take State Route 210 (Happy Jack Road) to County Road 106 .Curt Gowdy State Park has seven sections of richly varied landscape, flora and fauna decorate the foothills of the Laramie Mountains. The beautiful attractions within Curt Gowdy State Park are near the crossroads of two major interstates, I-80 and I-25. There are three reservoirs, Granite, Crystal and North Crow. Granite offers excellent rainbow trout and kokanee salmon fishing as well as space for water sports. Crystal, the smallest of the reservoirs, has shoreline fishing for brown trout, rainbow trout and kokanee salmon. Also, enjoy boating while at Crystal (15 horsepower limit). North Crow Reservoir is located 5 miles west of the Headquarters Building. This is an unimproved fishing area. There are no picnic tables, water supply, comfort stations, and is day- use only-very natural. There are a limited number of reservable campsites at the Tumbleweed and Camp Russell campgrounds. Aspen Grove campground is next to a free public horse corral for those visitors who would like to camp with horses.Within the park is Hynds Lodge, which is listed on the National Register, and an amphitheater available for concerts, theater productions, and many other cultural activities. The area is one of low-lying meadows, gently rolling hills and massive steep granite formations. Wildlife abounds and bird watchers will be treated to a variety of non-native birds.

Amazing for day trip hikes and to overnight camp! I live in Cheyenne and this is a nice escape. Check out the hidden falls while you are here!

We stayed here as an overnight stop over on our way to South Carolina. We arrived about 6:30pm and we’re given no map at checkin so it was quite a problem finding our site. We were in a 35’ 5th wheel and our site was about 6” out of level side to side so that was a challenge also. Our site was a pull through and was narrow and had a curve to it. The size of our rig made the area cramped but the concrete picnic table area was nice. The park has no sewer at the sites AND no dump station. You have to haul sewage to another location to dump. The lack of WiFi wasn’t and issue for us at all and the views of the lake were quite nice.

Gorgeous park. Highly recommend downloading the AllTrails app or something similar and downloading trail maps to your phone.

This place was exceptionally amazing. Woke up extremely early to the most beautiful lake that I’ve seen in a long time. The water was like a sheet of glass. It was a little hard to find our campsite because of lack of signs. But once we got there, amazing views.

Overall, a beautiful park. I think camping here would be delightful. Our biggest beef with the park is the bad trail signage. What should have been a 4 mile hike to Hidden Falls became a 6 mile trek because of poor trail signage -- and we weren't the only ones who had difficulty navigating the trail. Ranger station is VERY nice (with 24-hour showers) and rangers were very friendly and helpful.
