It offers artisanal brick-oven pizzas, hand-made pastas and spit-roasted meats, fish and vegetables prepared in a wood-fired oven and grill on the savory menu; while twists on Italian classics are the crux of the dessert program.
This Lincoln Park restaurant is home to Italian-inspired cuisine passed through a distinctly local American filter. Go for lovely fresh pasta, creative pizza (topped with rhubarb in the spring and Brussels sprouts in the fall) and excellent fish from the wood-burning oven.
Balena's rustic wine cellar transports you from busy Lincoln Park to a rural Tuscan winery and can accommodate up to 35 seated guests or 60 of your standing-room-only friends. Sip Italian wines, craft cocktails made with Italian bitters and scarf down a multicourse family style dinner showcasing the restaurant's modern Italian cuisine.
