“watch local and take in Cincinnati history”
The Esquire cinema offers indie, foreign and commercial films in neighborhoods with eclectic restaurants and shops nearby. We have positively the best movie popcorn in town. Cincinnati's locally-owned & managed art house, historic and new, state-of-the-art theatre. Our mission is to continue to offer the best films, service, events and viewing experience possible. "WATCH LOCAL!" The Esquire offer adult beverages (an assortment of beer, wine, mixed and frozen drinks.) As local writer Jeff Wilson blogged, "This offers a whole new dimension to movie-going!" City Beat readers again named the Esquire: "Best Movie Theatre in Cincinnati" - 2012
Love the Esquire, it's one of my favorite places to see movies in Cincinnati and they get a lot of smaller movies that the bigger chains won't show. It also feels good to support them as they definitely have a classic, old vibe. Their popcorn is pretty good and the Clifton location is just around the corner from a fantastic French restaurant to enjoy after a movie.
The Esquire is my favorite place to see independent films in Cincinnati. Always a great selection and they serve booze which is also a plus. Much cheaper prices than a normal AMC as well.
For a while this was the only Movie Theater inside the city of Cincinnati limits. The owners of Esquire recently opened Kenwood Theater which is very similar but in a newer building. Both locations have alcohol but Esquire tends to show more Art house and limited release movies then the Kenwood Location. If it's showing at Esquire I always choose it over AMC in Newport because the owners have been keeping the Cincinnati movie scene alive for many years.
Seeing a movie at The Esquire is always a fun experience- along with offering up a quality and diverse selection of films- the Esquire invites you to enjoy local food (like Graeter's Ice Cream) while watching films. They also have an awesome "Back Alley Bar".
Definitely my favorite movie theatre in Cincinnati. Besides the actual theatre being very nice and comfortable with an awesome old time feel the movies they show are great. It's always especially cool to be able to see a classic on the big screen
I love the esquire for it's old-time movie theatre feel, the artsy movies they play here and the bar located inside (the price for a glass of wine might seem high, but they fill your glass to the brim).
Cool indie theater in the gaslight district of Clifton. They usually have movies you won't find at the major chain spots, and will carry some of the blockbusters too. But with smaller screens and no stadium seating I'd recommend sticking to the artsy indie stuff and leaving the big spectacles to the IMAX's etc.
