“family owned business since 1967”
Blue Jay Restaurant is a family owned business since 1967. Opened by Danny and Tina Petropoulos, they are still hands on today. All specials and soups along with pretty much everything else is still made fresh by Danny and Tina Petropoulos 43 years and counting.
Blue Jay was hyped up. I was told it was the best omelette in town, the burger was amazing, and the waitresses were incredibly nice. They insisted that the menu was large, the food in general was top notch, and you just couldn't go wrong at Blue Jay.
Blue Jay didn't disappoint.
In fact, I tested everything above. I tried the omelette, the goetta one to be specific. It was the best omelette I've ever had outside of my home. The waitress was nice to all 5 of us who moved a table ourselves to accommodate where we sat, and even laughed a time or two at jokes we cracked while others were giving their orders. I tried Tom's Burger, a double-decker reminiscent of a Big Boy from Frisch's. It was, in fact, amazing.
The menu was large. Very large. An entire page of breakfast items, a few more pages of lunch and entrees. I saw a version of the Cincinnati-style cheese coney on their menu, so I tried it. And people, let me tell you - you really can't go wrong at Blue Jay, because they even got the coney right.
I can't wait to go back a second time.
Easily one of the best Diners in town. Classic, kitschy, and a bit outdated, it's the perfect greasyspoon. Food comes quick, and is super fresh as well as delicious. Give it a go!
Maybe the best diner in town. Only open until 3ish but it's a solid diner with real diner atmosphere. All the waitresses are super nice and always take care of you. Check out the Goetta Omeletes for some Cincinnati flavor.
if you are hungover or just plain hungry and in the Northside vicinity then you MUST stop here for some food! they have an awesome and friendly staff and make some damn fine greasy spoon fare... also, if you like Cincinnati chili their cheese-coneys are some of the best in the city, for real, check it out!
Blue Jay is an important place for the neighborhood of Northside. It's one of those places that maintains a classic style that's open to a lot of people. I think their goetta is the best. They do the standards really well. They have cincinnati-style chili. Blue Jay is a classic neighborhood diner.
This place does not disappoint. Their goetta omelet is made by angels and I hear the coney dogs are classic. It's a very low key classic diner environment with a steady mix of regulars, hipsters, and hipster regulars complete with a diner bar and booth seating. Bonus tip: Shake it records next door is the best place to experience food comatose. Delicious books and an awesome record selection.
Top diner. Great food and vibe. Check opening hours before coming though, but come!!
