“Unique and different sweets”
Many visitors make the comment that we are unique, that they’ve never seen anything quite like us—and many of these visitors, wine reps and the like, are very well traveled and have been to many a restaurant and wine shop across the country. We are often asked, “How’d you come up with this idea?” We wish we could say we were smart enough to have come up with some grand concept or plan, but the truth is that when we started, we had no idea what would work or how it would all fit together. We had taken over this little carry-out sandwich shop in “old Mariemont” that also sold beer, wine, and a little bit of gourmet food, and we just pushed on whatever seemed to be working that day.In the summer of 1996, we moved into the new Mariemont Strand and the whole thing got much bigger, much faster than we anticipated. We put in a lot of long, hard hours. We were here all the time, and had very little time off. And then it dawned on us: We were trying to build the place where we’d like to hang out—if we weren’t working all the time! That, we believe, is the secret to our uniqueness. We don’t study demographics, we don’t target a market, and we don’t try to cram ourselves into a mold or model ourselves after anybody. We love great beer and great wine and good food and real music. We don’t like paying an arm and a leg for these things either. And that is how Dilly Deli became Dilly Café. It is our dining room and our living room, this is where we entertain our guests. You. Thanks for hanging out with us!
Love the custom martinis they make here. And the beer cheese that Jason mentioned is fabulous! If you're into hamburgers, they've got incredible ones of those too. In the summer you can sit outside and dine al fresco, and they have wine tastings too.
Dilly Delly has delicious food and a lot of pretty healthy options on the menu (the portobello mushroom burger is delicious!) as well as a healthy wine and beer menu. Their soups are also really good and I think are always fresh. One of my favorite lunch spots in Mariemont.
I go here Tuesday nights when they have a wine tasting (and will normally walk over and see a movie afterward, nice little date night). The cheese platter is awesome and great for two, and there is a bottle shop attached to the restaurant. Outdoor seating is really nice, too, this is my favorite Mariemont spot.
I want to eat all their beer cheese, so you should never order their beer cheese, as that will mean there is less beer cheese for me.
This is a great place to bring kids. The food is excellent, and they have a really good kids menu. They have real food for kids that they'll actually like. AND you get to have some great wine and food yourself.
This is a great place. The food is tasty, staff is friendly, and atmosphere is relaxing. Definitely a spot only locals seem to know about.
If you enjoy trying places with a varied beer selection, this is a great place! They have local, national, and even some international selections. One mention option is to have the bartender random select a craft beer for $3. I'll second the previous review in that the beer cheese was awesome. My only negative: the live music. While live music is fun, this place is small, and having small talk is tough when the amps are ramped up.
