“The very best in Thai food”
We are pleased to have the opportunity to serve you whether you are just being introduced to Thai cuisine or are already among our loyal customers including many Thai guests and friends. Green Papaya is open for lunch and dinner service. Carry-out is also available during lunch and dinner, including Sushi. Green Papya is locally owned and managed by husband and wife, Sak Kertpet and Sunee (Ta) Panichluechachai, both originally from Bangkok, Thailand. Sak was a Chef in Boston and moved to Cincinnati in 2000. Responsible for managing the front of the house, Ta is also a Sushi Chef. Together, they have developed many unique interpretations of Sushi rolls, Thai curries, and noodle dishes. Sak is delighted to cook "Thai style" or adjust the spice level to tamer standards; but he never compromises on the flavors and high quality standards Green Papaya is known for. Among the numerous awards since our opening in August 2006, we are honored to have received those from Cincinnati Magazine, City Beat, and CinWeekly/ Metromix. We are especially gratified to have received the regional award from the Thai Ambassador's Industry of Commerce "Thai Select" 2007-2009 for Thai Cuisine "Presentation and Interpretation." Green Papaya provides a calming, tranquil Asian atmosphere. We have recently expanded our dining space, doubling the initial size. We are now capable of serving all our customers more efficiently while allowing more space to enjoy one another's company. Our ultimate goal is your dining satisfaction.
This is the best Thai restaurant I've found around Cincinnati. I have yet to try anything there that wasn't delicious. My favorites so far are the basil chicken and the siam fried rice. Some dishes (it will say on the menu) are served in a halved, carved out pineapple, which is pretty neat. Their spring rolls are really good, too. I usually don't order appetizers when I go out to eat, but these are a must. Food portions are pretty large for the price. They tend to get pretty busy around 5 until the end of the night, so if you want to avoid the crowd, try to get there before 5. Also, parking is VERY limited. There are probably only a dozen spots in the parking lot. But don't despair! You can park along Drakewood (the street right next to the parking lot).
One of my favorite sushi spots in Cincinnati, service is great and the sushi is authentic
There are over 10 Thai places within a 3 mile radius of Hyde Park and Oakley and this is by far my favorite. The Pad Thai and the Basil Chicken are my go to orders. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.
I took Ken's advice, tried the Pad Thai, and it was indeed phenomenal. Not sure If I'd rate it best in the city as there are several rival spots, but really good. I noticed they opened up a second location in Cincinnati (border of Madisonville and Mariemont).
I originally said this was one of my favorite sushi spots (still is, the green papaya roll is a favorite) but that was before I had the pad Thai... Which is the best in the city that I've tried. Phenomenal.
