“a meeting place for artists and strange creatures”
Rake's End is a meeting place for the DIY-minded, artists, any variety of strange creatures perhaps misunderstood or ignored by Cincinnati's more commercially-driven venues. The Rake's End is located in the historic Mohawk-Brighton district of Cincinnati, now known as Cincinnati's West End neighborhood. Brighton is home to several art galleries including Semantics, Museum Gallery/Gallery Museum, Synthetica, Third Party, as well as the Mockbee, the state of Ohio's oldest hardware store Hartke Hardware, the historic Sterling Ice Cream factory building (now home to a moped shop and artist studios) and The Brush Factory custom clothing and furniture design studio.
this place is super weird and awesome... one part bar, one part art gallery, the owner/barkeep jerome is very friendly and makes you feel like family...
Totally funky bar in Cincinnati's West End aka. Brighton. I once heard Rake's described as Tim Burton's favorite bar. It's self proclaimed a DIY bar for artists musician types. Went here on a live music night with a great house DJ set. If you're not familiar with the area it's a bit sketchy / underpopulated. Totally worth the visit though. I feel like I hit the goldmine and got a little feel for Berlin in Brighton.
