“try the delectable, award-winning French Toast”
Vitor's started out as a coffee shop, but we changed our name from the Coffee Cap Cafe™ in the Summer of 2006. Our previous restaurant, Mokka™, was located in Newport, Kentucky, and our chef has worked at the world-renowned 5-star Nana Grill™ in Dallas, as well as Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse™ in Cincinnati. In 2005, we were voted best of the city for French toast in the December issue of Cincinnati Magazine, and rated best for breakfast in the City Beat Coffee Cap. You can also find an article featuring us in the Cincinnati Weekly's dining out guide for November of 2005, while we were still Coffee Cap Cafe. Coffee Cap was also voted best in brunch by AOL City. In May 2009, we won the "Best of Taste" for our Unforgettable French Toast and the "Award of Excellence" for our Walnut/Coconut Encrusted Shrimp with a Peach/Mango Spiced Reduction in the Taste of Cincinnati food competition.
I've only been to Vitor's for brunch, but everything was delicious. The menu is unique and includes seasonal specials and appetizers. I'd never considered appetizers at brunch, but why not? Reservations are preferred, particularly for weekend brunch. Some people may love or hate the fact that it's BYOB, but they will provide orange juice to pair with your champagne. You can definitely benefit from inexpensive mimosas if you don't mind lugging a bottle. I consider the coffee bar a gimmick since it's mostly just flavored coffees. That said the regular coffee choices are a step up from other diners and chains.
This is my favorite brunch place on the West Side of Cincinnati. The exterior is completely unassuming- you could pass by this place and never know it- but you'd be sorry you did. I've never had a bad thing here. It's just all outstanding. Some of my brunch favorites include: the Italian Eggs Benedict, the Southwestern Crepes, the Unforgettable French Toast - and I start every meal off with the donuts- you just have to.
