“home of the pumpkin show”
"Circleville is home to the annual Pumpkin Festival. The town's water tower is shaped and painted like a giant pumpkin." The folks from Circleville, Ohio, sure know how to whip up some soaring enthusiasm for their annual Pumpkin Show, first held in 1903. (While it sounds quaint, it has grown into an extravaganza that attracts 400,000 visitors!) The water tower, which holds a million gallons, was built in 1976 but it wasn’t until 1997 that it was painted to resemble a giant gourd. (The stem doesn’t really have a function, it was added for authenticity!)
You can see the water tower from some distance away from it. When we first saw it was in a field behind some silos. Then we say it behind Captain D's. Then we saw it behind Walmart. Then closer to downtown Circleville, we saw it on the street it was located on. Then we saw it near the Roundtown Conservancy in a field. It was neat seeing it from different angles. I think it would especially be nice during Fall or pumpkin season and when they have their pumpkin festival. I definitely enjoy water towers like this that have a theme because they are not boring.
