“One of America's best toylands”

Lovers of the bizarre, I have officially discovered the weirdest place on earth, and it’s in Cleveland. Babyland General Hospital is a cringe-inducing toy store camouflaged to look like the inside of a sterilized operating room. Why? So that attendees can take part in the “live birth” of their adopted Cabbage Patch Kid from the womb of the Cabbage Mother…seriously. Creeped out yet? Just wait. The inside of the building, which is actually an abandoned medical facility, is a creepy labyrinth of stuffed dolls and makeshift baby nurseries. Once you make it to the “delivery” room, you take a seat in front of the “Birthing Tree” surrounded by cabbages, each of them crowned with the dismembered heads of babies not yet ripe enough to “be born”. Preemies, if you will. During the “birthing process”, the lights around the Birthing Tree go dim and strange purple crystals begin to glow in the cabbage patch. Suddenly, an announcer lets the audience know that the Mother Cabbage is fully dilated. After several minutes, a “doctor” appears on set and produces a pair of salad tongs that he then uses to pull the doll baby from it’s leafy cabbage hole. He then gives the doll a hearty tap on the butt and you go on your merry way with enough nightmare fuel to last a lifetime. - Roadtrippers Pack the ‘Kids™ up for a trip to the new BabyLand General® Hospital in Cleveland, Georgia, voted one of the Travel Channel’s Top Ten Toylands. Beautifully situated on 650 acres in the North Georgia Mountains, this Southern Style home filled with Cabbage Patch Kids will capture the imagination of your entire family. ADMISSION IS FREE. Mother Cabbage is always on display beneath the branches of the Magic Crystal Tree. Pollinated by fanciful Bunnybees®, our magical Cabbage Patch is tended by our Licensed Patch Doctors and Nurses. Babyland General Hospital is the only place in the world where you can witness the birth of a hand-sculpted Cabbage Patch Kid. With thousands of Cabbage Patch Kids throughout the hospital, you are sure to find your perfect match. Take the Oath of Adoption and your new baby will give you unconditional love. Visiting Hours: Monday – Saturday 9-5 EST • Sunday 10-5 EST

I enjoyed looking at all of the babies from my childhood. My children on the other hand was not so impressed with the dolls. After 10 minutes they were ready to go.

I went to the original Babyland General 30+ years ago and I loved getting to come back and experience it again. My teen boys and weren’t in to it but they tolerated it on my behalf. It’s free and it’s fast to go through.

If you are a product of the Cabbage Patch generation, this is a must see. Even my boys were drawn in and unexpectedly happy and enthused by the visit.

My daughter loves it. While it changed from when I was a kid still a lot of fun. Lots of dolls at various price ranges.

From many reviews I was ready for a dingy sadly put together place but as a child of the 80s I had to make my pilgrimage! WHOA WAS I WRONG. this place is adorable, clean, bright fresh! The talking & birthing tree, not creepy, kind of sweet! And a great background story! The grounds were beautiful and sitting in a rocker on a Georgian plantation home on a breezy summer day was great! If you are like me and your mother waiting in line for hours for a cabbage patch, bring it! They get a cute little VIP visitors badge! In reality the whole place is a big store but it was so worth the stop for us!
