“home to over 100 vendors!”
Built in 1912, this thriving public market offers fresh produce, meat, dairy products and a delicious variety of prepared foods.
Everything about this place was great. Free parking, Tons of food, the architecture. It's got something for literally everybody. I ended up eating at one of the diners that are hidden in the corners of the market and it was very good.
Go there. Get the pierogis. You can get other stuff if you want, too. They have a lot of great stuff (from coffee and loose leaf to to pastries to produce to meat to dried fruits and spices). But the main thing to know is to get the pierogis, which come in not only the standard flavors (potato, potato and cheese, potato and onion, etc.), but also a variety of specialty flavors (cottage cheese, jalapeno, taco, etc.)
It was a nice authentic market. We didn't buy much because we weren't shopping for groceries, but there are some cool ice cream and dessert vendors.
The gyros at Steve's Gyros are a must try. The line can get pretty long and they run out of meat towards the end of the day so get there early to grab one. Also the jerky and smokies and J&J meats are amazing! Some places only take cash here so make sure to carry some. There are not a lot of places to sit down so be warned if you do get a meal you may be standing or sitting on a bench outside to eat it. You can go upstairs and look over the market and sit on the window sill up there, but it does get pretty crowded.
Pricy but a lot off fun! My wife and I were already talking about other things we would want to if we ever came again, as soon as we got to our car.
A wonderful market place. Get some cheese, all varieties of foods, do some people watching. I had a great time!
Great coffee, cool place. Parking was free, but insane on a Friday around 11--took about 25 min to snag a spot.
If you are visiting Cleveland for the first time, or have just never been to the West Side Market, it is a must-see destination. The history and architecture of the market are amazing. There are a ton of great food options and vendors. Easily one of the most fun and interesting places to visit in Cleveland.
