“See the old west as it really was!”

Old Trail Town is a collection of historic western buildings and artifacts, dating from 1879—1901, located off the Yellowstone Highway in the resort city of Cody, the seat of Park County in northwestern Wyoming. Much of the collection was derived from within 150 miles of Cody, the town that Buffalo Bill and his associates surveyed and established in 1895.
Interesting stop and neat place to look around: however if you use a service dog be forewarned you may have to educate their staff on ADA law. At first they were insistent on seeing WY state service dog papers (which do not exist and are not required by state or federal law) but once I explained the law to them they were very kind and apologized and even gave my service dog a drink of water after we had walked around (hot day). I probably would have given a higher rating if it wasn't for having to stop and educate about ADA law. So far ( after several days in Cody) this has been the only place to give me a hard time over my service dog. So I took away one star for that. But they did make up for the slight breach of etiquette (and law) by being super nice to us afterwards. :)
This was awesome. Was hesitant to stop at first but so glad we did. You really get a feel for what the west was like. Authentic structures moved to the site. I have great admiration for the people who lived in this area and settled the area. Worth the stop.
We decided to stop and visit this old town set up. While most of the buildings have been relocated from other locations, it still was interesting to see and read about.
It's pretty amazing one man (with the help of friends) put this impressive place together. They've moved several famous old west buildings to this site including several used by Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid!
