Need a weekend away? Come visit Twin Anchors Campground. We are located at the crossroads of the nation, where the Jefferson Highway meets the Lincoln Highway or in modern terms US Hwy 65 and US Hwy 30. Twin Anchors Campground is just 12 miles east of Ames, IA, home of Iowa State University. We are a favorite campground to many families who have been coming to visit for 42 years. We have whatever you may need for a fun-filled family weekend!! Check out our list of activities and amenities. We spend our time making memories for you and your family. Your kids will beg to come back time and time again. Reservations are highly recommended from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend. Twin Anchors in Colo, Ia is a beautiful campground with a small lake, water foul, petting zoo, camp store, playground, dump station, beach and more. Though it is now officially closed for the season keep it in mind for next year.

We just got or camper and this was our first stop. That staff were incredible! Owner was awesome and helpful. We had an issue with our new rig and they were able to help us troubleshoot and solve. A good number of permanent RV’s on site. We stayed here and actually drove to Des Moines for the Iowa State Fair during a couple days of our stay.
Our kids loved swimming, the slide, petting zoo, play ground and the soft served ice-cream machine! You can get a whole gator load of wood delivered right to your campsite.
We certainly had a great experience because of the staff. Certainly would recommend this place to others.
