You might expect that a restaurant with this kind of neat "gimmick" would be overpriced andserve merely average food. You'd be wrong. We have visited this restaurant 3 times in the past year or so on visits to Colorado Springs and have yet to be disappointed. The family that owns the place is friendly and helpful and the menu has something for everyone at reasonable prices and prepared to your satisfaction. If you're in the area, you should definitely stop in. Once you do, like me, you'll probably be back.
We had fun at this restaurant and the staff was chatty plus informative if you like airplanes or have a pilot in the family. We thought the food and prices were okay. It's an average sit down service establishment. The restrooms have sound effects of takeoffs and landings which was good for one more smile! We sat in the cockpit and took photos, so it was definitely a tourist friendly place. I overheard someone say that the quality of the food was much better than the last time he had bee. The
My boys, 4&5, got a kick out of this place. We went on a weekday and it was not too busy, so they were able to spend plenty of time pretending to be "airplane drivers". I didn't love what I ordered, but that may have been my fault in poor ordering. Overall the food quality was acceptable for the enjoyment that the boys had and the novelty of dining in an airplane!
My family lives near The Airplane, and it's one of our favorite places to take visitors from out of town. The food is consistently good American fare, and the staff and management/owners are present and attentive. Everyone loves eating on the plane, too; it's a fun experience which even our adult guests thoroughly enjoy.
Pretty neat place. Food wasn't too bad either. I'd go again!
The food was terrible! Inside plane was nasty, windows were dirty, slow service. The waiter who seated is needed a clean ironed shirt @ so did the waitress. Food over priced ! Sorry it didn't impresse.
Great fun! went in november no waits Great time to go! Server was soo sweet!
.... Been there. Sorry I hit send accidentally while trying to correct my auto Spell feature! I recommend this as it's only a couple miles out if the way. We went after spending sunset at Garden of the Goda, another must see in the area!
Oops, hit the wrong button with my previous review. As I was saying, while the experience of eating in a large airplane and sitting in the cockpit is neat, the reason for being there is food. The food is overpriced and not very good. I would not recommend this restaurant.
Neat gimmick. You can actually eat in the plane and sit in the cockpit. Kids love it. We have been here numerous times and love the atmosphere. Unfortunately, many things that we have tried on the menu were not up to par. A trip from Chef Gordan Ramsey could make this place fantastic.
Definitely a perky place to dine at. The idea of having a restaurant inside a legit plane is surely awesome! The plane was filled with hundreds of memorabilias hanging on its walls. Dining here can be also synonymous to going through the rich history of aviation. Moreover, food was really great and tasty. The staff were friendly and very approachable. They would even suggest what would suit your appetite. Dining here is surely worth the experience.
Probably more fun for smaller kids. The food isn't great so you definitely don't go for the food. The plane is fun but smaller kids definitely appreciate more.
The food was very good here! We went between the lunch and dinner time and did not need reservations. However, we were told during the actual meal times in order to eat on the plane itself you would need reservations. Even if you eat in the main building (not the plane) you can still go up in the plane and look at it. The staff was friendly the day we went however, they were short staffed and we felt bad for them. We gave them a 4 star just for that reason since the service was a bit slow.
I was in the military at Fort Carson. That whole area around The Springs are pretty as all get out!! The only thing not there while I was in The Army, was the plane!! Wish it would have been, but hey, if I want, I can take a round trip flight from Fargo, North Dakota to Colorado Springs for $198!! :o) I'm due for a weekend get-a-way !!!
Food was less than mediocre and definitely overpriced. The restaurant part smelled like the bathrooms and the service was not great. With all that being said, my kids thought it was so cool eating in an airplane. I wouldn't return nor would I recommend it to anyone, despite my kids reviews. If you do decide to go, make sure you call several hours in advance for reservations and request a table in the airplane. It's definitely not worth going if you're not sitting on the plane.
My husband and I went for lunch and it was so neat. We were able to sit in the airplane which was cool. You are able to climb around in the cockpit and take pictures too. The food was good and definitely not overpriced. If we are in the area again we will go back!
My 7 year old loved it so much he says it's the highlight of our entire vacation
The Airplane Restaurant ties in everything awesome about Colorado Springs's military history with a great dining experience. If there's one place you should make sure to eat at in town, this is the place. The additional seating make it comfortable in case you don't want to actually be on the airplane, but come on... Who wouldn't want to eat in the airplane?
