This has to be my most favorite zoo in America.
You can feed giraffes for $2, feed birds for $1, go on a pony rides for $3, get to the top of Cheyenne Mountain on a sky ride for only $5..and have alot of refreshment areas and more exotic animals that you probably won't be able to catch at your normal typical zoos. I like how I can be able to see them up closer than most places as well. :)

This zoo is also very special because its the only Mountain Zoo in America.
Definitely a place to visit if you're in town!

Loved it. Went there in mid May, had lot of fun. Animal feeding was really a thing of interest for me (adult) n for my 3 yr old. Very informative.

This is one of the best zoos I've ever been to! My family and I went back in March while we were on vacation and LOVED IT.

It was a fun zoo to explore, being on mountain side made for a unique experience. Feeding the Giraffes was a highlight and overall good zoo. Thought the price was a bit steep, no pun intended.

Zoo was great got to pet giraffes and goats you can feed the elephants for $10. The only thing I didn't like was some of these animals were alone and looked stressed and wanted to get out. It saddens me but was a learning experience for my niece. At the end you can drive your car through the park up the mountain to a castle called shrine of the sun super cool view!

We did the shadow keeper tour and by far that BEST experience we every had! My husband said his tour for 1/2 day was nothing but taking pictures of the animals, feeding them and doing training techniques on them. He did the Conservation Highlands (endangered species such as black-footed ferrets, Wyoming toads, tigers and leopards). I did the Rocky Mountain Wild (Moose, wolves, mountain lions, lynx, river otters and grizzly bears). I spent my 1/2 day behind the scenes making their food for the day, spreading food in the grizzly bear enclosure, feeding, training and watching some of the shows the zoo keepers put on for the mountain lions. I too was able to get up close and take pictures and feed the animals. It was an exciting experience and grizzly bears were by far my favorites! At the time we did not get to see the wolves but all the other animals I enjoyed! We made reservations in advance which is the only way you can do this tour. You can do a 1/2 day or full day but either way it is an experience to learn more about the behind the scenes and go where the zoo keepers get to go.

The animals are happy and cared for, the exhibits are clean and interactive, and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. I can't recommend this place enough if you are looking for an up-close animal experience. The zoo began as an extension of Spencer Penrose's animal collection at the Broadmoor and has turned into one of the best zoos in the country. This is not a massive amusement park zoo, but that is definitely part of the appeal. Plus, they have the largest giraffe breeding program in North America!
