“A German Village landmark since 1942”
We have been told we have great burgers. If that is something you think you would enjoy, then you need to stop in. We have a laid back atmosphere, so if you are in a hurry this probably isn't your place. We aren't a typical restaurant and that is why people keep coming back. The Thurman Cafe has been a landmark in German Village since 1942. Opened by Nick Suclescy and passed on through the family, the restaurant has remained true to its roots. We still serve up the best burgers in Columbus, along with old favorites like Our Famous Coney Island.
Found this place because of the show Man vs. Food--the hamburgers are huge & were delicious--I was pleasantly surprised--I wasn't sure what to expect. The cheese fries were also worth trying. The restaurant/bar is packed and the wait was long but the ambiance was fun and the waitstaff were really nice. Well worth trying if you are in the area.
The best way to get in to Thurman's is to go as soon as they open for an early lunch. Otherwise you're looking at a wait that can stretch on for hours. By the time you sit down, you'll probably be famished enough to devour a whole burger, which, by the way, are monstrous. And delicious. They're the best burgers in Columbus and they're worth the wait.
So yes... they have amazing burgers. I'll leave that to someone else to talk about. This is probably the most famous burger in Columbus (on a bunch of those travel channel shows, etc.) I will say this, it's going to be a long wait, pretty much no matter what day, and what time, so plan to hang out for a while. But it's worth it
It's a good burger, not life-changing, but tasty... however the wait is long. There are cooler hidden gems in Columbus more worth waiting for, in my opinion.
