“in scenic Hart County”
Cub Run Cave, located in scenic Hart County, Ky., was first discovered in 1950. It was then briefly shown to the public before being closed for the next 55 years. The cave reopened to the public in July 2006. New elevated wooden walkways and modern lighting were constructed for the public's safety and convenience. Come discover for yourself one of Kentucky's newest and most beautifully decorated show caves! Fun and excitement await you and your family before, and after touring our Cave. Children and Adults alike find delight while experiencing our panning sluice from Cold River Mining Company. Discover gemstones and minerals from around the world or uncover fossils 15,000 to 340,000,000 years old. Try to find all 30 fossils or all 48 gemstones and mineral specimens for a spectacular collection that will last as a lifetime keepsake from Cub Run Cave.
Unfortunately, this cave is no longer in business. We drove a long way to see it, but it's abandoned and everything in the gift shop looks dusty and faded. We were informed by the guide at Onyx cave that the owner had passed away a year ago.
I think they are closed for good. For Sale sign out front, lot empty, doors closed when hours posted said open.
Super friendly, kind, knowledgeable and helpful guide and my favorite cave! I'm so glad we started our cave vacation there!
