“Excellent escape from New York City!”
Nestled along the historic Neversink River (about 60 miles from Central Park) between the Catskills and Delaware Water Gap in the Hudson Valley, this KOA is a great retreat from New York City or an excellent base camp for day tripping into the city.

Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on July 21, 2022Not we’ll maintained, not a great location, the water made my husband and dog sick (my daughter and I didn’t drink it), the playground was minimal, the pool was tiny (we stayed in May so it wasn’t open yet). The only positive was spots were large.
The reviews online are right on the mark, you'll either love or hate this KOA. If you're looking for a manicured, corporate looking KOA where there is staff everywhere to cater to your every need THIS IS NOT THE PLACE. This campground doesn't really look like any KOA we've been to. It's more like a state park with minimal staff you rarely see as the campground is HUGE and there are so many separate areas.
The pros:
-very friendly customer service
-lovely river sites
-huge campground with multiple loops and types of camping types (yurts, cabins, open field, wooded etc)
the cons
-the place is huge but the weekend we were there, there were only 3 people working the entire campground including handling customers, clearing brush, etc.
-the landscaping is almost non-existent, weeds, downed trees, and weeds everywhere (see con #1)
-a number of abandoned looking trailers mar the landscape in multiple areas (see con #1)
-the pool was not open as it was before the in-season BUT it looked AWFUL.... (see con #1)
-many of the amenities were rundown and needed TLC (see con #1)
-The WIFI is non-existent, luckily cell service was excellent.
We were lucky in that we were camping on a quiet weekend. There was no music festival with loud and rowdy people to irritate us. We were first placed in a site that was next to an abandoned looking trailer with a shredded awning and flat tires. After I let the helpful staff person know we weren't pleased, we were moved to another site that was much more to our liking.
The campground has so much potential so hopefully the owners will get adequate staffing to make the necessary improvements and maintenance so that it can make more campers happy.
We didn't use the bathrooms or any of the facilities at all but they didn't look all that well cared for so I personally would not recommend it to friends and family who were camping in tents or cabins or yurts.
That being said, we'd come back as we had a very nice time and loved the property. It was more like a state park than a KOA in that it didn't look manicured or 'corporate' but was much more rustic and 'shabby' which is fine if you don't need to use the bathrooms or stay in a cabin.

Couldn’t agree more with the previous review. This is a sad KOA that does not live up to any sort of KOA standard. The grounds are a mess, buildings and amenities in disrepair, and the bathrooms are unmaintained. The redeeming quality of the campground is the beautiful river scenery and the proximity to a nice outdoor area at the Neversink Preserve. If you can get a quiet site near the River, this may make your stay worthwhile. Otherwise, skip this campground.

Stayed at this place on an RV trip in July 2021 for one night. We woke up before dawn to get the hell out of there. Everything is broken, dirty, and damaged. The water didn’t work half the time, and when it did it was nasty. We weren’t comfortable drinking it or even showering. $80 for an RV site where the wood deck was broken and half the hookups didn’t work. I would not recommend this campground to anybody.

The only nice thing to say about this place is the river. $170 a night with a river view, electric and water would have been tolerable except for the filthy bathrooms. We’ve stayed a many lovely, clean, well run KOAs on the East coast and cannot understand how this place keeps their KOA franchise???

Between the time we booked the campground and our arrival, Deerpark disassociated with KOA. As other reviewers wrote, this campground is far from the standards of a KOA. Additionally, the price paid was a little too much for what the campground provides.
Prior to arrival, we wanted to check to see if the campground accepted packages (as we are full-time RVers). No one ever answered the calls or returned our messages.
On our arrival, the employee (as she ignored calls) had trouble with the "new system." Some campsites do not have water that works and everything needs a little more care.
That said, our campsite wasn't horrible. We had shade on one side and a clear view to the north (ideal for our satellite internet).
Deerpark is not close to New York City. Other campgrounds are closer.
