Trinity River Audubon Center

6500 Great Trinity Forest Boulevard, Dallas, Texas 75217 USA

“6,000 acres of wilderness”

Welcome to the Trinity River Audubon Center -- your gateway to explore the amazing resources of the 6,000-acre Great Trinity Forest. As the largest urban hardwood forest in the United States, this forest supports a diverse community of plant and animal species and contains a unique mixture of bottomland hardwoods, wetlands and grasslands. The Trinity River Audubon Center, located eight minutes from downtown Dallas on 120 acres, opened October 2008 and is part of the City of Dallas-Trinity River Corridor Project. The land, formerly an illegal dump site, has been reclaimed by the City of Dallas and beautifully demonstrates how a municipal liability can be transformed into a major asset for people of all ages to enjoy. Visitors have the opportunity to explore hands-on exhibits, five miles of nature viewing trails, the Children's Discovery Garden, and a great nature store with unique gifts and nature related items. Programs offered at the center educate and entertain children, families, and adults. We also invite you to join the center.Academic programs at the center are designed to address the need for students to improve and strengthen their science and critical thinking skills while introducing them to the wonders of nature. The Trinity River Audubon Center, designed by 2006 AIA Gold Medalist architect Antoine Predock, is the first LEED-certified building constructed by the City of Dallas Park and Recreation Department. Its green features include a vegetated roof, rainwater collection system, energy efficient systems, and recycled materials. Our hope is that individuals, families and visitors to our great city, will find the center both an enlightened and unique way to explore our forest and the Trinity River. Visit our Web site often and use it to make your visits to the Center more rewarding. The Trinity River Audubon Center offers everyone the opportunity to connect to nature and to experience the outdoors year around. Come discover for yourself -- you will not be disappointed.

This was a really nice park. It had paved trails and was good for walking, biking, etc. We actually saw a wild boar off one of the trails too so that was cool and semi-dangerous! This place was a great stop since Dallas doesn't offer many wild, outdoor options.

My husband and I visited the Trinity River Audubon Center and we loved it! The staff was very helpful and professional and they give us a Birding Tour which we really enjoyed! All the indoor and outdoor activities are wonderful from the classes to the hiking! The green building is perfect, they have even take care of the details, I was speechless when they told us that the windows of the building are in a certain angle so birds won’t fly into them. If you are interested in the environment then you have to visit this place!
