“home of National Museum of the United States Air Force”

Wright-Patt is one of the U.S. Air Force's largest and most important installations. Located in Dayton, Ohio, it is the birthplace, home and future of aerospace. Wright-Patterson AFB is "one of the largest, most diverse, and organizationally complex bases in the Air Force" with a long history of flight test spanning from the Wright Brothers into the Space Age. It is the headquarters of the Air Force Materiel Command, one of the major commands of the Air Force. "Wright-Patt" (as the base is colloquially called) is also the location of a major USAF Medical Center (hospital), the Air Force Institute of Technology, and the National Museum of the United States Air Force, formerly known as the U.S. Air Force Museum.

Wright-Patt is a cool base, if you ever get the chance to visit. I worked there for a year in college, and it was great. I'm not certain what I can actually say about it...

If ever you get the opportunity, go.

Absolutely one of the best air museums in the country. I think we've seen them all and I would put it in the top 5. They have several of the retired Air Force One planes and you can walk through them. As the wife of an aviation buff, I can say I really enjoyed this museum (on both visits to it!) A great place to bring your children.

If you love history and planes, this is the place to be. They have a huge collection of things, the guides are very friendly, and the place is free! You can walk through a bunch of presidential planes in their new exhibit, so that's nifty.

Being originally from the Dayton area, I've been to WPAFB Museum many times. It is hands down the best Air museum you will find, it makes the Dulles Smithsonian even look less appealing in comparison, plus they don't charge $15 to park like the Smithsonian does. If you want to go to an amazing museum, this is the place.
