“Eclectic focusing on the modern”
The Weinhard Cafe is a small, independently-owned, eclectic cafe specializing in modern American food with a worldwide influence. The cafe prides itself on using fresh, local products when available. Soups, sauces, spreads, etc are always fresh and house-made. The cafe has an extensive lunch menu consisting of cold and grilled sandwiches, quiche, quesadillas, salads, soups and daily specials. The dinner menu is less extensive than lunch, but very interesting and thoughtfully designed. Executive Chef, Eric Seoane takes traditional favorites and morphs them into something original, interesting and tasty. Desserts have become a mainstay in the cafe and there is always a wide array of fresh, homemade desserts to choose from and you can always expect a couple of seasonal additions. SE Washington is proud of the wines coming out of the Walla Walla and Columbia Valleys and the cafe has a great wine list featuring these viticultural areas. Local craft beers are also featured. The cafe has always been independently-owned by local residents. It was originally located on the first floor of the Weinhard Hotel in historic, downtown Dayton, WA before moving across the street to a larger, more accommodating space. Local residents have consistently supported the business throughout the year while tourists and surrounding community members keep the business hopping in spring and summer. The cafe has received been featured in many local and even national publications such as AAA magazine, Sunset magazine and the Oregonian newspaper. In September 2010, the cafe was featured on the television Northwest Backroads. Currently the cafe is owned by Dayton residents, Anne Jaso and Brad McMasters. Anne acts as the Executive Chef preparing fresh, interesting and wonderful meals in the evenings while Brad cooks and chats with customers during the day.
