“The remains of the cold war”

**This place is on private property. Listing for informational purposes only. Please do not visit without express permission from the land owner.** The Martin Marietta SM-68A/HGM-25A Titan I was the United States' first multistage Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM). Incorporating the latest design technology when designed and manufactured, the Titan I provided an additional nuclear deterrent to complement the U.S. Air Force's SM-65 Atlas missile. It was the first in a series of Titan rockets, but was unique among them in that it used LOX and RP-1 as propellants, while the later Titan versions all used storeable fuels instead. Though the SM-68A was operational for only three years, it was an important step in building the Air Force's strategic nuclear forces. HGM-25A Titan I ICBM 1961–1965 Operated three missile sites: (1 August 1960-25 June 1965) 725-A, 14 miles SE of Watkins, Colorado 39°35′15″N 104°27′42″W 725-B, 4 miles NNE of Deer Trail, Colorado 39°40′06″N 104°01′41″W 725-C, 5 miles SSE of Elisabeth, Colorado 39°18′54″N 104°33′43″W

Stay away, Enjoy the pictures but do not make the mistake My friends and i did. We and everyone else caught on the land will be criminally prosecuted. The dangers underground are assumed to just be asbestos but theres no telling the structural integrity of the silo and if any other chemicals are present. The ladder is bound to give at some point soon. Please do yourself the favor and stay away. You will be prosecuted

My last birthday in October 2022 I turned eighty years old. In June 1961 fresh out of high school I enlisted in the us Air Force. After basic training at Lackland air base I started school at Shepard air base on the workings of the Atlas ICBM, I had completed my training and was assigned to a site at Plattsburgh, NY when when I was "asked" to continue training on the Titan 1. I was told this is brand new, the sites were still under construction. As soon my training was complete I was assigned to the 849th strategic missile squadron at Lowrey air base in Denver, Co. When I got there I joined the acceptance team with eight other airmen and officers. We were right on time and gained a lot of hands on with the Martin-marietta contractors. Things took a turn when a worker was crushed when one of the silo doors fell on him. after review work resumed. Soon the sites were loaded and accepted by the Air Force and all 18 missiles were on line. More Missile Maintenance Techs (MMT) were coming in and assigned sites. By this time we became the 451st Strategic Missile Wing (SMW) with two squadrons, the 724th and the 725th Missile Maintenance Squadrons (.MMS) with each having 3 missal sites with 3 missiles each. 4A, 4B, 4C in the 724th MMS and 5A, 5B, 5C in the 725th MMS. I was assigned to the missile site you guys are talking about which was 5B north of Deer Trail, CO in 1962. Fast forward to may of 1965, 5B was the last to deactivate. When that was done I still had a month to go. Col. Jake Thurman was site commander and he said to me" looks like we're both out of a job. you may as well muster out" so I did. Sometimes it all seems like a dream. People sneak into the place I spent 3 years of my life working at. If you go down the elevator shaft to the bottom the main room is to your left, the power production is to your right. there were 4 huge diesel electric generators. Straight ahead is to the three launchers. Under the floor of the main room is where all the sewage went before being pumped up to the lagoon.

Sorry, I guess I should identify who I am. I'm Earl Root and can be reached at beastworks@mac.com. after I left Lowery I got married and settled in south central Nebraska. If anyone has questions about where things were or what's what I'd be happy to help.

Don't go there anymore. The land owners there called the cops on my and my buddies and we all got nabbed for trespassing. We parked behind the hills, and made sure to stay away from view of all the houses. They must drive around and patrol, because there's absolutely no way they could have seen us from their houses. It's an interesting place, but it's just the shell of what it used to be. It's completely empty inside, besides lots of garbage, beer cans, and shotgun shells. It would have been much cooler to see it with the equipment still inside. Some of it is completely unreachable due to massive flooding inside the complex

If you go at night, make sure you don't have any lights on. The property owner will come in his serial killer truck. Hell, all of us had a "get the hell out" feeling and not more than ten minutes after leaving, the property owner drove to the entrance. From what I've heard he probably might kill someone, and since he has silos he can hide the body in, why not?

Just be stealthy

This was the home of the United States' first multistage Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM). The Titan I was intended to serve as a deterrent, and complement the USAF's SM-65 Atlas missile.

Awesome Place to visit!!
Me and a couple of friends have made a Youtube video about this place!! Heres the link to my channel !
Very dark and possible haunted? We kept hearing noises!!! Be very careful and have a mask!... we didn't (There are weird smells inside) it goes on for a while but most of the cool parts are all flooded with nasty water that i dont think you want to touch.
No problems getting in which was good but we had to pull up to the location at 9pm and lights completely off, that way you dont have problems with the houses that were right next door to the silo.

so if you do go!!! PREP PREP AND PREP! its dark, musty, dusty, and pretty scary! listen to your surroundings and watch your surroundings things can get sketchy. Though have fun
