“Denver's only Tiki Bar”
Tiki culture, in a popular sense, had it's beginnings in the mid 1930's with the opening of dining establishments such as Don the Beachcomber and Trader Vic's. After World War II, American soldiers and sailors brought back with the their experiences of life in the South Pacific. As the American economy improved and travel to the Hawaiian Islands became more accessible, all things tropical began to flourish in popular culture. By the 1950's Polynesian Pop Culture was in full swing. Fueled by the music of artists such as Les Baxter, Martin Denny, Arthur Lyman, Robert Drasnin and Cal Tjader, the phenomenon was spreading to countries all over the world. This trend would continue well into the early 1970's. The late 1970's and early 80's saw the decline of Polynesian Pop and Tiki Culture. As popularity waned, many Tiki restaurants and bars closed or went out of business and Denver's Tiki establishments were no exception. Adrift salutes all who have come before in bringing you had crafted cocktails and island inspired dishes in a Traditional Tiki setting. We are very proud to be part of the revival of Tiki Culture and we sincerely hope that your experience here will be a memorable one and that you will return to our shores again very soon!
