“almost a century old Manor”
Salisbury House was built as a private family manor between 1923-28 by Carl and Edith Weeks; enabled by their financial success in the cosmetics industry and fueled by their passion for the fine arts. Salisbury House is a museum; cultural and educational resource; and center for social events. Special events include Shakespeare on the Lawn; Salisbury Auto Classic; and Holly & Ivy Tour. Limited handicapped accessibility.
Stopped by this cute little place to stretch our legs- it's in a cute little area and not too far off the freeway. The estate is really pretty, although the inside of the house is extremely bare.
Definitely do a guided tour, it's only a little more money and you learn much more, and over half of the house is only available to guided tours it seems. Be aware, they do close for private events without notice, so I would call to be sure they'll be open and able to give tours. The gardens were also closed when we stopped by.
All in all $8 for a nice hour walk around a beautiful historical house to break up the drive was worth it.
This place is full of history! If you're going make sure to pay a little extra and do a guided tour! The library is awesome!!
