โ€œOld Family BBQ Recipesโ€

Welcome to The Salt Lick! We are delighted to share our world-renowned Bar-B-Que with you - alongside an extra portion of Texas Hill Country hospitality. The Roberts family recipes have roots back to the wagon trains in the mid-1800's. We want you to enjoy the same warm atmosphere and delicious Bar-B-Que they savored around the campfire.

This just may be the (arguably) best barbecue in Austin. Their sauce is a little more mustardy than I've come to expect from Texas barbecue, but that doesn't take anything away from the flavor, meat or atmosphere.

Best time to go is Spring or fall, when you can sit outside under the trees at the picnic benches. Perfect.

Best overall BBQ around. Potato salad is German style but not served hot, slaw is great and simple. Two kinds of sauce. Hungry? Go for the family style and they just keep bringing you more.

THE best BBQ I've ever tasted so far. I had the moist brisket with burnt ends, pork ribs, sausage, coleslaw, and peach cobbler. All to die for!!! Sauces are amazing!!! ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹

This place is a destination. We were fortunate a friend told us take the 15 minutes out of our way and go here. The food is great. Attached to it is a beautiful garden and a winery. I wish we had a whole afternoon to spend here, looks like they were setting up for music.
