“An Excellent view of the Water!”
Verona Beach State Park, located on the eastern shore of Oneida Lake, is a picnicker's and camper's delight. Shaded picnic areas and the campground are adjacent to the beach with an excellent view of the water. The lake, Black Creek, cattail marshes, and bottomland hardwood swamps give Verona Beach one of the most diverse aquatic habitats in the Central Region, and well worth a hike on the "Woods and Wetland" nature trail. The winter season hosts snowmobilers, cross-country skiers and ice fishermen. The eastern portion of the park is open for hunting deer, small game, and waterfowl, in season.
Verona Beach State Park was wonderful. We arrived on the Thursday before 4th of July and it was not real busy yet. Only stayed one night. But even if it was busy, it would still be great. Clean, beautiful, and quiet.
The beach was great for kids. The lake is shallow for a long way out and all very sandy and fantastic life guards; extremely attentive. The Park recently redid the whole lake front area, with lots of picnic tables, playgrounds, bathrooms, and a snack bar. The only down side is there were bits and pieces of lake vegetation that gets blown in or are carried by currents that build up a little on the lake's shore. It gets raked up every day and once you move past the first foot of lake, it is gone, so the lake is a bit turbid.
