We visited the Field of Dreams for the 25th anniversary celebration. Along with watching the film on the field, it was so much fun to watch Kevin Costner, Timothy Busfield and Bob Costas play baseball.

We went to visit the Field in September of 2013. We wanted to see it before they made the "FOD Park" that was planned (and thankfully later kiboshed). I understand that it's a movie set, but there is something magical about this ball field in the middle of the corn. The morning we were leaving we went back to visit one more time before heading home, and we had a "Moonlight Graham" moment. There was a young guy with his girl there, and his girl asked if she could take some pictures of him with my bat; I agreed of course. He was very nice and asked me if he could use one of my baseballs to hit it, so I went to LF to shag. His first swing goes deep into the corn, an offering to the corn & baseball gods. As he was running around the corn looking for it, his girl tells us that he's a player in the SF Giants minor league system. She tells us how FOD was his favorite movie growing up and that this was a surprise visit on the way to Chicago. He even played "Moonlight Graham" in his high school play, and I drew many parallels. There is definitely magic in that corn my friends. Go have a game of catch, if you're ever by Dyersville.

Pretty sure the adults enjoyed this stop more than the kids as we played on the actual field and took pics walking out of the corn. FREE and great way to immortalize a classic film.

I loved this visit. We watched the movie just before beginning this trip so it was fresh on my mind and it looks just like it did in the movie. We were lucky that IA had a late harvest this year, so the corn was just as tall as it was in the film. It's not commercialized at all - one little souvenier stand and an option to pay for a tour of the house (that was barely in the film).

It's literally just out on a gravel road in the corn fields. You're driving along kicking up dust and turn in at the sign and BOOM - Shoeless Joe is the only thing that's missing. We didn't bring equipment, but lots of people were playing catch, running the bases, wandering through the corn to find where it ends. Field was spotless - the owners keep it as fresh as the movie - not a blade of grass out of place, not a bare spot in the turf.

If you ever come near this area, swing wide. I don't cotton to ghosts, but there's definitely something moving out there in this place.

It's a nice little stop. It's especially good for letting kids run off some steam, and if you are into the movie than it's definitely a bonus. My husband wanted to stop because of the movie. I had never seen the movie before, but still enjoyed watching him play baseball with our kids on the field, and it was a great photo op for the kids as well. It was the perfect place to stop to break up a long drive.

When you step onto the field, it’s like stepping back into your childhood, everyone participating in all day pick up game. If you’re a lover a baseball this is the spot for you. Watch the movie before you go so you get the full experience.

This is just a beautiful place. Everything is exactly like it was in the movie. It's great for the kids to run around and it was free. Lovely to have a picnic there too right next to the field.

Excellent. For fans of the movie its a must. Don't be put off by the lack of signage (maybe we came in the wrong way) this does actually exist and its definitely worth the slight detour.
The pitch is immaculate, the corn is fun, the benches are great and my own gripe is that there are no bats or balls to play with. As we were road tripping in a car across the country, we didn't have any equipment, or anywhere to get any so we were slightly disappointed not to be able to have a pick up game on the pitch. you cannot purchase or rent the equipment there to play with. I'm guessing this is so the pitch is kept in good condition and minimizes the upkeep.
Either way, we had great shameless fun with imaginary equipment, and playing in the corn.

Unfortunately, we did not watch the movie with our son before we went, but he really wants to watch it now.
