Beaver Creek State Park, in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, is one of Ohio's most scenic parks. The park includes Little Beaver Creek, a state and national wild and scenic river, and 2,722 acres of forest wilderness. The rich history of the area invites visitors to explore Gaston's Mill, pioneer village and abandoned canal locks. Nearby is a 2,105-acre wildlife area. Little Beaver Creek offers one of the most enjoyable canoe trips in the state of Ohio. Swift currents and breathtaking scenery are highlights of a trip through the Little Beaver Creek gorge. Be sure to wear a personal flotation device and be alert for potential hazards. The creek is navigable by canoe or rubber raft only.

This is one of our favorite campgrounds. Eight sites have electric and the rest is dry camping. They have a sun shower. Two legs of campground. One is mostly pines the other is mostly hardwood. Ninety percent of sites are shaded. Wonderful hiking, a historic village, fishing pond for the kids and beautiful scenic river.

Campground is fairly small but nice size sites. Few with electric. Pit toilets. No shower. I don’t think there were any pull through sites. The park is large with lots of hiking. Some hikes were easy and some quite difficult. The park is wooded and hilly.

This is a perfect place for beginning kayaking and canoeing. The creek is very low during the summer so I look at the water level on Americanwhitewater.org and click the national river tab. For the lightweight I would recommend a minimum water flow of 350-400 cfs. For all others a minimum level of 450-500 cfs. I believe the water level is measured every 4 hrs. This is a beautiful scenic river where the sound of vehicles and city/towns disappear. The state park has plenty of picnic areas and historical buildings. Hiking trails are also available.
