Alpine Valley Music Theatre

Housed amidst the lush green, rolling hills of East Troy, Wisconsin, the Alpine Valley Music Theatre was built in 1977. It was inaugurated the same year in June with its first concert by Boz Scaggs. The amphitheater boasts of a capacity of 37,000. This includes the 7,500 seat pavilion overlooking the sprawling lawns. The pavilion is covered with a wooden roof. The concert venue is in proximity to Madison, Rockford, Milwaukee and Chicago. It is almost equidistant from the four cities. Its favorable location is one of the main reasons for the large and diverse audience it attracts.   The venue is described as a seasonal venue as it does not make a very good outdoor space in the monsoon. The owners of the amphitheater undertook structural repairs in the summer of 1989 after the last Grateful Dead concert.
